Foster AudreyFOSTER, Audrey Sheila Foster   -  April 8, 1930 – May 20, 2022

The family of Audrey Sheila Foster sadly announces her passing, peacefully, at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, Ontario on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the age of 92.

Much loved wife of the late Gordon Chalmers Foster for 70 years.

Loving mother of Lynn Alcock and her husband Alan, Sheila Iacono and her husband Gaetan, Gordon Foster Jr. and his wife Cathy, Michael Foster and his wife Pamela Hilborne and the late Frank Foster and his widow Naomi London.

Cherished Gramma of Sherry (Neill), Dawn (Harry), Melanie (John), Lisa (William), Daniel (Marika), Stephanie (Tyler), Sera and nine great-grandchildren.

Dear sister of Thomas Conrick (Lillian) in Calgary.

Predeceased by brother Frank Conrick and sisters Vera Miller, Norma McComb, June Linn and Lorraine Steimle, Audrey will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.  Audrey was born April 8, 1930 in Montreal, Quebec to Thomas Stephen Patrick Conrick and Daisy Lilian Cheeper.

Audrey's father was a veteran of the first World War, a member of the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force stationed in Bourgogne, France.

After the war, he returned to civilian life and was employed by the Dominion Oxyen Company at the time of Audrey's birth.

Audrey's mother Daisy was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 212 Ladies Auxilliary.

Audrey was introduced to the love of her life, Gordon Foster, by her sister Norma who worked with Gordon. Audrey and Gordon were married at St. Gabriel's Parish, 2157 Centre Street, Montreal, Quebec on July 15, 1950.

They honeymooned in New York State and returned to Montreal to reside in Pointe-Saint-Charles.

Audrey and Gordon raised their family in several areas of Montreal and Chateauguay over the next 40 years.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Audrey primarily was a stay at home mother and enjoyed cooking and baking for the family. Her much loved specialties were baking powder biscuits, butter tarts and nanaimo bars. Audrey bought a Singer sewing machine in the 1960's, took courses and enjoyed sewing clothing for her husband, children and grandchildren.

She was appreciated for her men's shirts, children's outfits, halloween costumes and for beautiful dresses for baptisms, flower girls and brides.

Audrey and Gordon moved to Wasaga Beach, Ontario after Gordon's retirement for two years and then on to Brantford to be close to Audrey's siblings, their families and several close friends.

At this time, since her children had grown, Audrey became very interested in other crafts. Besides sewing, she excelled in rug hooking, plastic canvas kits and decoupage. She took college courses and received her diploma in Paper Tole.

Audrey made many beautiful pictures for family members and friends.  Audrey and Gordon then moved into retirement living in Whitby, Ontario in 2011 and then to Fairview Lodge in the summer of 2016.

When living at Fairview Lodge, Audrey was in the Resident Spotlight in August 2021.

Photos of her artwork were in the newsletter and she was recognized as a true artist.

They could not believe the amount of talent, time and effort put into her art pieces.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Libby and all the nurses, personal support workers, physiotherapists, dietary, recreation, hairdresser, volunteers and all other staff at Fairview Lodge for their excellent care and compassion over the many years that Audrey resided there.

A memorial service will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME , 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday May 30th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception and Celebration of her life.
