STATHOPOULOS, Eva Stathopoulos   -  Eva was born on January 12, 1934 in Athens Greece to John and Helen Peppas.

She lost her father at the tender age of 7 and as a result, formed a tight bond with her siblings that marked the rest of her life.

Seeking a better life and following her sister she emigrated to Canada in 1960 where she was reunited with her betrothed, Christophoros Stathopoulos married and began her life as a working wife and mother.

Life in the 60s was hard but she was always well liked by her employers who recognized her good nature and kindness and rewarded her with advancement.

Tragedy would enter her life years later when she lost her beloved husband at the age of 47. In midlife she picked up a second job and became mother and father to her adolescent children, Demetrios and Eleni.

Her reward for her industry and tenacity would come years later with the arrival of her grandchildren, Eva would beam being addressed as “Yiayia" by her grandchildren.

After retirement Eva enjoyed visiting with her extended family and friends in Greece where many joyous reunion events with childhood friends, her brother and sister were memories she treasured zealously in her later years.

On June 1, 2022, Eva passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering.

She is survived by her children, Demetrios (Kim Hull Stathopoulos) and Eleni (Jim Caissey), as well as her grandchildren - Stefan, Christopher and Lucas.

Arrangements with Mount Lawn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
