Muir JamesMUIR, James Thomson  -   April 23, 1940 - June 4, 2022

James, born in Pretoria, South Africa, passed away on June 4, 2022 after a valiant battle.

He was surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Dear husband of Diane (nee Martin) for 57 years.

Cherished father of Tara Furse (Robert) and adored grandfather of Aliyah, Benjamin and Maxwell.

James was a brother of Margaret Marais (Bull) and uncle to Tania Brachmayer (Peter) and Jacques Marais (Fiona).

He was predeceased by his son, Ryan, his brother Robert and sister Janet. James and Diane immigrated to Canada from South Africa.

Over the years James’ career took him to many places, living in Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, China and Romania.

Those who knew James will remember him for his passion for cars, golf and soccer.

The family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Palliative Care Team and the Supportive Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for the care and compassion shown to James and his family. 

A celebration of James’ life will be held at THORNTON CEMETERY and  FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, on Saturday June 11, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or a CHARITY of your choice.
