Beamish LillianBEAMISH, Lillian Jean   -  (January 20, 1932 - October 27, 2022, Oshawa, Ontario)

Sadly, Lillian Jean Beamish passed away on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 in her 91st year at the Wynfield Long Term Care Home in Oshawa.

She was recently predeceased by her long-time best friend, Katherine (Kay) Helleur, on September 12th, 2022.

Lillian was the last surviving offspring of Edith Brown and Kenneth Beamish.

She was predeceased by her siblings Margaret Campbell (Walter, d.), William (Joyce), Helen Winter (Bill), Ross Shaffer (Churyl), and Donald (Barbara, d.)

Lillian embraced life with vigour and enthusiasm from her earliest days, whether it was driving the kids from Mary Street to the ski hill, working hard for Pilot Club International and eventually becoming Lieutenant Governor of District 17.

Throwing herself full-tilt into her work life at General Motors in the sales department, playing badminton competitively in her early years and later enjoying the game of golf, exploring the world with Kay and their friends, spending winters at their Florida Condo, working hard on the Lynde Creek Village Residents’ Council, or taking part to the fullest in services, Bible Study, choirs and committees at St. Mark’s United Church in Whitby.

Lillian had a great love of all animals, especially dogs, and was always ready with a joke to share until her health failed her.

She will be missed by her surviving brother-in-law, Bill, and her sisters-in-law Joyce and Churyl and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

At last count, she exclaimed that she had been an aunt 74 times!

A visitation for Lillian will be held on Friday, November 25th, 2022 at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 21 Garrard Rd., Whitby, Ontario (905-443-3376) at 11:00am followed by a service at 12:00noon.

Interment will take place at GROVESIDE CEMETERY, 5155 Baldwin St. S., Whitby, Ontario.

The family has asked that everyone please wear masks at the funeral home and be conscious of social distancing protocols to protect all present from the dangers of COVID.

A special thank you to the caring staff of Lynde Creek Retirement Home, Whitby and to the staff of the Wynfield Long Term Care Home who treated Lillian so lovingly during her last days there.

If so desired, Lillian would appreciate donations in her memory to Sedna Women’s Shelter and Support Services Inc. for Denise House, Oshawa or to Salvation Army, Whitby or to St. Mark’s United Church, Whitby.
