Knevel JonnieKNEVEL, Johnnie G. M.   -  December 23, 1938 - December 14, 2022

Peacefully on December 14, 2022 Johnnie passed away at home, ending a brave battle with Parkinson’s.

He was born to William and Maria Knevel on December 23, 1938 in the Netherlands.

Beloved husband and faithful friend to his wife Lynda Anne.

Loving father to son Anthonie (Julie) - Luke & Layla and son Theo (Barbara) - Ophelia.

Proud stepfather to Jackie (Tim), Rebecca - Caleb & Faeren, Maggie, Sarah (Jeff) - Isaac (Robyn), Caedan, Keerthana & Hannah.

Survived by his brother Tony (Beryl), sister Gertruda (James Hadwin) - Alsina & Alison, sister Betty (Donald Alton) - Marc & Carolynn, brothers-in-law John & Robert King and Honey King (Gerald King). Johnnie enjoyed music, reading, gardening, road trips and long walks.

He strived to honour God, knowing that it was his Saviour and Redeemer who opened the adventure of each new day.

He enjoyed his years working for Eaton’s & McCains, but found great satisfaction working at He’s Alive Christian Bookstore & St. Vincent De Paul. Working as a crossing guard after retirement, Johnnie had a saying to “brighten the corner where you are” Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine”.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Susan (Paramed), Oliver and Nursing Staff (St. Elizabeth).   Words cannot express our thanks for their care and service.

A service will be held in the spring and, if desired, donations may be considered to Parkinson Canada (www.donate.parkinson.ca).

Arrangements entrusted with THORNTON CEMETERY and  FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, (South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787).

Expressions of condolence may be left at  etouch.ca .
