Finley LornaFINLEY, Lorna Mary (nee Hickey)  -  JANUARY 10, 1927 – JANUARY 25, 2023

Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hillsdale Estates on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in her 97th year.

Dearly beloved wife of the late Jack Finley, loving mother of Ron (Lilly), Barb Zmozynski (Stan), Kathy Forte (Vince), John (Mira), Lois Kirkpatrick (Bill) and Ken (Dawn).

Cherished grandmother and great grandmother to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survived by her siblings Jane Wilby (late Tom), Edward Hickey (late Mary), Joan Hickey (late Bob) and predeceased by Bill Hickey (late Jean) and Fran Hickey (late Mary).

She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends. If you knew Lorna, you were one of the lucky ones.

She was kind, generous, good natured and always there for the people around her. An active member in the community, she spent her time as a teacher with the Durham District Catholic School Board and on the St. Mary's of the People Parish Catholic Women's League.

Her greatest joy in life was being with her husband and family at home and in Bobcaygeon at the cottage enjoying the sights and sounds of Pigeon Lake. She was also a cards enthusiast and loved playing a good game of euchre with friends.

We would also like to thank the staff at Hillsdale Estates (Primrose Path) for the wonderful care that they gave our mom. Their kindness and compassion towards mom will never be forgotten.

The visitation for Lorna will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, February 2 from 4 – 8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARY OF THE PEOPLE PARISH, 570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa on Friday, February 3 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at the Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Denise House.
