Nettle DanielNETTLE, Daniel Vincent –

November 16, 1954 - March 13, 2023

Oh Danny Boy the pipes are calling....and you have answered...

Peacefully after a long illness our “Dan the Man” passed away at his Whitby home with his devoted sister by his side.

He was born on November 16, 1954, and passed away on March 13, 2023 at the age of 68.

He is survived by his only sister Mary Jane who is 18 months older. His parents were Robert Edward Nettle (d. 1962) and his mother Ann Margaret Cox Nettle (d. 2009) who resided in Whitby since 1949.

He had an extended family of many cousins, their families and his only Uncle Howie Nettle at 92 years of age residing in Bedford, Nova Scotia.  Dan is survived by some long time wonderful, devoted friends:  the Mackey Clan, Tony Reimer, Mike MacGillivray and Michael J. Fox.

Dan and his sister shared the affection of their home and property called Brookwood Acres and had many friends plus customers who loved to visit, share the joy of nature and have a warm discussion with Dan who was gifted with a great memory of past events and great stories.

Dan ran his own business for over 50 years called Carriage House Reproduction Pine Furniture. He was a cabinet maker and furniture restorer who built his own workshop. He created or repaired wonderful pieces of furniture and even created unusual jobs such as the wood parts of old cars for that Fawcett Motors required to restore an automobile and he created fine pieces of furniture from harvest tables to unique designs that the local Artists required for their latest projects.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby on Saturday, April 29, 2023 with visitation from 1 - 2 pm and a Celebration Service at 2 pm. If you wish to attend Dan’s memorial service from a distance, please join the family via live stream at https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/memorial-service-for-daniel-nettle.

Dan has been cremated and will be interred at a later date in May.
