Donald was born in Toronto to Walter and Lillian Floyd.

Both he and his father worked lengthy careers with General Motors Canada.

Donald married his high school sweetheart, Shirley James in 1957 after both graduated from O’Neill Collegiate in Oshawa.

Together, they spent a great deal of time with the James family, owners of Pleasure Valley in North Oshawa.

Job advancement with General Motors, lead to a move to Calgary, Alberta.

Their two children were born in Calgary, before returning to Ontario.

Donald worked for GM for over 30 years, much of it as the New Parts and Product Manager in Oshawa.

He took great pleasure in owning many different sports cars, boats, go-karts, motorcycles, and snowmobiles.

He participated in many enriching activities, numerous trips to the Florida James home, family visits with his parents in Grimsby, and world travels with his wife and children. He especially enjoyed time at the family cottage on Balsam Lake.

After 32 years together, his wife passed away at the young age of 49.

Donald remarried Fran Osier who recently passed in 2021.

Donald leaves behind his two biological children, David and Heather, and their children Michael and Adelaide.

Fran’s family includes her children Dawn and Shawn and their children Mackenzie, Katie, and Parker.
