SCHISSLER, Gordon "Gord" Charles Schissler  - Age 93, of Oakville, Ontario and formerly of Bowmanville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 28, 2018 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Born August 17, 1924 in Victoria Harbour, Ontario he was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mada (nee Allison) Schissler and sister Ruth Gibson.

Gord lived a full, rich life with his family, friends, neighbours and colleagues always sharing big smiles and laughs with everyone he met. He heroically served his country on D-Day at Omaha Beach. In 1951, Gord married the love of his life Matilda "Tillie" Vendittelli in Toronto. Eventually settling in Bowmanville, they enjoyed raising their two children Gary and Susan.

After retiring from Goodyear in 1979, Gord had another successful career with Workplace Safety North until age 65. Always willing to help with a smile, Gord was well known throughout the community and at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, for many years as an Elder.

Gord is survived and will be forever loved and sadly missed by his two children Gary Schissler and his wife Martha of Port Perry and Susan Rosales of Oakville, and his four grandchildren: Geoffrey Schissler, Carolyn Schissler, Erastani Rosales and Tsanda Rosales.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville on Saturday June 2nd, from 1 – 2 pm.  A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2 pm. Private Interment.
