Thackeray RobertTHACKERAY, Robert “Bob”Gordon  - (Dec. 15, 1945 – June 9, 2018)

Passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 9th, 2018 at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa.

It was with great sadness, but relief that Bob struggles no longer.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Jo of 48 years.

A much loved dad and grandpa, he will be greatly missed by his daughter Robin (Augusto), by his sons Joel (Jodi) & Glenn (Adria), by his grandchildren Owen, A. J., Sebastian, Liam, Sam, Ava, Alexander & Jake; by his sister Ann (Earl), brother Bill, brother-in-law Peter (Judy), nieces & nephews.

Bob retired from General Motors after almost 38 years of service and looked forward to his next chapter in life.

Over his lifetime, he enjoyed many hobbies: keeping fish, woodworking, bonsai, badminton, squash, skiing, travelling, golf & oil painting. He belonged to the Oshawa Golf Club for 19 years, and a member of the Oshawa Art Association for many years.

He became a very accomplished artist who enjoyed exhibiting his art work at art shows and in galleries. He was able to spend 10 winters in Florida where he pursued his love of golf, plein air painting and his social connection with many friends he had made down south.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses of 4F (palliative care floor) at Lakeridge Health for all the wonderful care and support shown to Bob and his family.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Road, North, Oshawa 905-579-6787) from 10:00am until time of service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or Lakeridge Health Foundation. Expressions of condolence may be left at
