Roy NancyROY, Nancy (Anne Frances) - Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on Monday July 9, 2018, aged 85.

Born in Athlone, Ireland on September 19, 1932, daughter of the late Michael & Margaret O’Connor.

Predeceased by her husband, Gerard Roy.

Beloved mother of the late Paul Smith, and of Yvonne Parnell, Mark Smith (Jo-Ann), Solo Chansa Kaunda and Elita Munsha Chalwe.

Cherished by her grandchildren Jess Smith; James & Tom Parnell; Adam, Andrew & Laura Smith; and Katherine Palesch.

Loving sister to Kathleen Weatherstone and Patricia Warner of Vancouver and aunt to her many nephews and nieces. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend to many, she will never be forgotten.

She is predeceased by her brothers James, Michael, Jack, Thomas, and Dermot and by her sisters Betty (Russell), Margaret (Menton), and Pauline (Monks). Beloved sister-in-law of Des Warner, Bina O’Connor and Pauline O’Connor.

Nancy loved her family, friends, music, dance and travel. She performed in Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in Ireland for years before immigrating to Canada. She was a soloist in her church choirs over the years.

She was an Irish Dance champion in Ireland and later opened her own dance studio in Montreal. She lived a faith-filled life serving as a member of the CWL for 65 years as member and President and volunteering at St. Vincent’s Kitchen in Oshawa.

Special thanks to Dr. Richard Kalnins & Dr. Robert Zeldin and their staff for their wonderful health care. Particular thanks to Janett Cabototan and Cynthia Tan who provided exceptional palliative care in Nancy’s home for her last three months. They brought comfort, peace, and laughter that sustained Nancy to her passing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday July 16, 2018 between 6-8 p.m. at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME, Ltd. 152 King Street East, Oshawa and a funeral mass on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, 690 King Street East, Oshawa.

Donations in memory of Nancy to St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church (Building Fund) would be appreciated in lieu of flowers and can be made through the funeral home.
