He is survived by a beloved wife, two loving children, and his parents for whom his love never wavered.

He was a high achiever throughout school with a love for history and earned a degree in Bio-chemistry (University of Toronto 1982.) He worked hard as a farmer, bio-chemist, programmer, a poet, and more. He saw a part of life’s intricate story.

James Stephen Doherty was born in Lurga, Co. Mayo, Ireland on Dec. 26th, 1929. He was the youngest of a large, loving Irish family. He led a blessed life in rural Ireland and Dublin when as a young man with immense courage and a healthy sense of adventure, left Ireland for Canada.

In Montreal he met his partner and love of his life, Bridget Neligan. Together they began a new adventure. They were married and had three daughters before moving to Calgary and then to Burlington. He was a kind, most patient, loving father and devoted husband.
