MORRIS, Ruth Mary - 77 years old, died peacefully on Saturday, June 8th, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends, carried her through her 20-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Ruth was born on January 22, 1942 in Kingston, Jamaica to Archibald and Winnifred Magnus (nee Swaby). An only child, Ruth was the sole source of pride and inspiration for her parents throughout her childhood.
Ruth attended Immaculate Conception High School in St. Andrew Parish Jamaica; and after graduation, studied at the University College of the West Indies where she successfully completed her Bachelor of Science degree with honours. Ruth met the love of her life, George Morris in 1960, while at university and the couple was married on September 23rd, 1965 at the University Chapel in Mona, St. Andrew Jamaica.
Ruth was passionate about teaching; and served for 30 years as a Chemistry professor at Humber College. Ruth will be dearly missed by all her family and close friends.
Married for almost 54 years, Ruth and George (Gemmie) raised their 2 dear children, Wayne and Gillian in Oakville Ontario, Canada. A strong woman with extremely high standards for herself and others, Ruth set the bar for everyone around her. Her focus on achievement, her willingness to take on the most challenging opportunities, and her steadfast resolve to never ever give up shaped the lives of everyone she touched. Ruth was also a compassionate person who always considered the needs of others first in everything she did.
In 2007, Ruth and Gemmie left Oakville and built a house in Stoney Creek Ontario.

Funeral information for friends and family of Ruth Morris: Visitation, Funeral Service Service and Reception will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Ontario on Thursday, June 13th.
• Visitation 1:00 - 3:00pm
• Funeral Service 3:00-3:45pm
The Funeral Service will be presided by Rev. Jack Cox. A reception for the family and close friends will be held immediately following the service.
