NAKANO, Juneko (June) (nee SUYAMA)  - Following her 2021 Beiju birthday, died peacefully on January 5, 2022 after a brief stay at Hamilton's Juravinski Hospital, succumbing to a chronic childhood ailment.

A Nisei, born in Cumberland in 1933, after internment and deportation to Japan, returned to Canada in 1957, living in Toronto with her brother's family. Wooed by Umeo.

Married in 1962, making her family path from Montreal, to Timmins, then Stoney Creek.

Fulfilling careers with Bell and CRA. Volunteer at Mikasa Lodge. Strong-willed lover of family, friends, and gochisou with a super-sharp memory, meticulous nature, and matter-of-fact voice. So-so at Facebook.

Survived by her two children (daughter Ethel, son-in-law Peter, son Bob), and siblings (Masayo, Toke, Meiko, Suzie, Eiji).

Predeceased by Umeo, her parents (Hisakichi, Tei) and other siblings (Kakuichi, Waki, Kunio, Masahiro).

Her children are deeply grateful to her kind neighbours on Ackland (John and Linda, Grant and Jane, Nicki, Peter and Barb, Mary), her dear friends (Chizuko, Kazi, Junko, Nancy and Dunstan, Betty, Yoko, Susan and Bill, Aki, Josie) and Juravinski's Ortho and ICU teams for their care.

Private memorial will be held per COVID.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Juravinski or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre requested.
