Demelo AntonioDeMELO, Antonio   - Sadly, but with grateful thanksgiving for his life, Antonio DeMelo passed away on a sun-filled day at his beloved cottage, on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

Just shy of 90, he had spent his last two days mowing the lawn, enjoying a bonfire with his son, John, and neighbours, and doing what he loved most – puttering around, as he opened the cottage for the summer.

We thought he would live forever, Tony – the successful businessman, negotiator extraordinaire and pillar in the Portuguese community.

We are heartbroken that he didn't. He was predeceased by his wife, Maria Resendes DeMelo; and he is survived by his children: Anne, John and George; as well as his companion, Lucia Mera; and his grandsons, Lucas and Julian.

He is survived by his brothers, Raul (Zulmira), Fernando (Cedalia); and predeceased by his brother, Gilberto (Maria), who passed away the same week in Silves, Portugal.

Mr. DeMelo will be resting at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, Thornhill, Ontario, on Friday, July 1st, from 2-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel, followed by a lunch reception celebrating his life and memory.
