SCHMIDT, Stephen "Steve" Rowland - On June 30, 2022, Stephen Rowland ("Steve") Schmidt passed away, in his 81st year, in the palliative care unit in the city of Brantford.
By his side was Lois, wife of 59 years. Dearly missed by his son, Jeffery (Dana, "best daughter-in-law"); grandchildren, Bryce, Madelyn, Joel, and Noah.
Predeceased by his sons, Bruce and Brian; and his brother, John (Louise).
Steve dedicated decades of his career with Markham Fire Department, providing services for the citizens of Markham, ending his career as a Fire Captain on Markham Main Street.
He worked with the Markham Fair for over 30 years.
Steve was loved by those who knew him; he was a hardworking, providing man; he always liked to tell a good joke and had a witty, grumpy sense of humour.
Friends and family will be received at Dixon-Garland Funeral Home (166 Main Street North, Markham) from 1-3 p.m., on Wednesday, July 6th. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.
