Barr ElaineBARR, Elaine Isabella   -  July 5, 1934 - January 14, 2022

Elaine died peacefully on January 14, 2022, at Tyndall Nursing Home.

She will be remembered lovingly by her husband of 64 years, David; children, Pauline and Ian (wife Brianne); and granddaughter, Sara (partner James).

Elaine was an elementary school teacher with Toronto Disrict School Board and the Burlington School Board.

Elaine was also a keen traveller, visiting Australia, much of Europe, Russia, and Africa.

An enthusiastic sportswoman, she played tennis at Applewood Tennis Club and curled at Dixie Curling Club.

CORVERA, Joan (nee PLATER)   -  Died suddenly, but peacefully in Toronto on January 14, 2022.

Joan was born in Mansfield, England, on September 21, 1933, to Arthur Plater and Lilian Hogg, the elder of two siblings.

She is survived by her brother Arthur Jr. (Margaret), and their children Jillian (Phillip), great-niece Emma-Clare, and niece Clare. Cremation has taken place.

GIBSON, Paul Saison   -  August 3, 1932 - January 14, 2022

On January 14th, Paul Gibson passed away peacefully, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was 89 years old.

Green MarieGREENE, Marie Therese  -  1934 - 2022   Peacefully at Michael Garron Hospital on January 14, 2022 in her 88th year.

Predeceased by her husband Hubert (2016), married for over 53 glorious years!

Already missed by her children: Bill (Leslie), Paul (Kelly) and Sharon (Brian); her 6 grandchildren: Aidan, Evan, Shaun, Connor, Emily and Trent; her sister-in-law Ray and her nephew Greg.

Marie was born in North Bay, Ontario.

Adored by her late parents William and Florence Gilchrist.

She lived most of her life in the Beaches (Toronto) and East York.

Shaddick LouiseSHADDICK, Louise Delores   - Passed away peacefully at home, on January 14, 2022.

Reunited with her husband and best friend, Bob.

The most loving mom to Deanna and her husband, Ryan.

Proud Bippy to Tyler and William.

Predeceased by her sister, Laureen, she will be greatly missed by her siblings, Don, Helen, Marlene and Carol, along with many extended family, neighbours and friends. She was well-loved and she loved many.

Louise will be remembered as a funny, kind, giving person, who could always be counted on to listen and provide valuable, sensible advice to anyone who asked.

Takeuchi NaomichiTAKEUCHI, Naomichi "Abie"   - 1932 - 2022 With deepest sorrow, we share the passing of Naomichi (Abie) Takeuchi, peacefully in his sleep on January 14, 2022 at Burton Manor, Brampton.

Born on January 9, 1932 in Vancouver, BC, he was determined to reach his 90th birthday before he left to rejoin his beloved wife, Yoneko (Edith), who predeceased him by three months.

He is survived by his children, Kathryn (Sean), Wayne (Denise) and Robert (Andrea), his grandchildren, Natalie, Michele and Naomi, numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, Anne (Shogo), Sho (Helen), Satch (Ed), Emiko and Shirley.

He was the youngest of six, and was predeceased by siblings, Dick, Ray, Terry, Shogo and Florence.

Waters JuneWATERS, June Alexandra   - June 14, 1934 - January 13, 2022

Passed away peacefully at her residence on January 13, 2022, at the age of 87.

June was the daughter of the late Ivy and Charles Weir. Beloved wife of William "Bill" and cherished mother of Sandy (Monica), Leigh (Ford), Craig (Cheryl), and loving grandmother to Jamison, Jonathan, Cole, and Reilly. 

June will be missed by her stepchildren Jeff (Trish), Lindsay (George), and their children Ben, Jake, Katie, and Annie. 

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the personal caregivers, nurses, and staff at Evergreen Retirement Community who lovingly supported and cared for her.

Sydorenko WasylSYDORENKO, Wasyl   -  March 15, 1960 – January 13, 2022

Musicologist, composer, pianist, and music critic, Wasyl was born into the family of artist Petro and Kateryna Sydorenko.

He completed a B.A. (Musicology Specialist, Geology Major) and an M.I.St. (Library and Information Science) at the University of Toronto; however, Wasyl's most cherished achievement was his ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance (Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto).

Starting his career in Vertebrate Palaeontology at the ROM, Wasyl moved to the University of Toronto libraries (35 years).

From 1994 he was East European Reference Specialist, Petro Jacyk Resource Centre; in 2010 he became President of CUPE Local 1230 (Library Workers).

ZUBEK, Evelyn Louise   -   On January 13, 2022 we lost a truly beautiful person.

Evelyn Louise Zubek died in hospital after battling cancer.

Throughout your life you made many friends and touched so many lives.

Your fire and love for life was infectious and your laughter was contagious.

Bates EdwardBATES, Edward  - At the Trillium Health Partners – Mississauga on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the age of 86.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Joanna, sister-in-law Eva, niece Jane and nephew John.

Edward will also be missed by his relatives, friends and fellow workers at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Loving brother of Edith and Marjory, special uncle to Brenda, Betty and Barry.

Phalp JeanPHALP, Jean Carol (nee BRUBACHER)   -  It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Phalp, née Brubacher.

She passed away peacefully in hospital on January 13, 2022.

Jean was the loving wife of husband Brian Trevor Phalp; beloved mother of Daniel (Leah Yu), Rosemary and David; grandmother to Chloe and Ethan; sister to Sheldon Brubacher (Barb); and predeceased by her parents Ralph and Bella Brubacher, her brothers Claude and Harold Brubacher (late Isabelle) and Gerald Brubacher (Lola), sisters Pauline Graham (James), Grace Waters (late Don), Alice McDonald (late Robert and Jack), Frances Clappison (Philip) and Beatrice Stephenson (Glen).

Jean was born on June 1, 1931 on a market garden farm in the community of Sunnyside, now Kitchener.

She met her future husband Brian when he came to play badminton at Deer Park United Church.

Schmoll ThomasSCHMOLL, Thomas (Tom)   -  Passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health on Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Tom is survived by his loving partner, Jessie, and grandchildren Kaitlyn and Todd.

He will be deeply missed by many family members in Hungary and the British Isles.

Tom was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth, and by daughter Marika.

Tom was born on April 17, 1936 in Budapest, Hungary.

After arriving in Canada Tom met Jessie, the love of his life.

They became life partners on May 3, 1965 at St. Kevin's Church in Montreal.

CHAPMAN, Bruce Alfred  -   Longtime retired teacher, Bruce taught school for 34 years with the North York Board of Education.

Peacefully at the Humber River Hospital on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 in his 85th year.

Beloved son of the late Alfred (Fred) John (1982) and Edna May Chapman (2009).

At Sunrise of Oakville, on January 8, 2021, at 91 years of age.

Sally was the devoted and loving wife of Doug, and the caring mother of Joan (Ed), Bruce (Carol), Katherine (Alex), Sheila, and Doug (Carla).

Sally will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Monica (Kris), Julia (Younes), Edward (Jennifer), Ian (Mary), Michael (Liesa), Ryan (Courtney), Mackenzie (Michael), Sean (Andrea) and Jordan and Sara and great-grandchildren Anabelle, Amy, Harper, Hunter, Nora and Wesley.

Sally was the devoted younger sister of her brother Phil (deceased) and his wife Anna Mae (deceased) and sister-in-law to Alan (Betty), Barbara (Ken) and Mary Louise who are all deceased.

VOLPE, Felicita   - On January 12, 2022, Felicita Volpe (nee Romagnuolo) passed away peacefully at the age of 92. 

Felicita is survived by her loving husband Francesco, daughters Lena (Peter), Joanne (Rocco), Lucy (Stefan), 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Born in Monteleone, Foggia, Italy on November 2, 1929, Felicita was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories.

JAWORSKI, Ann   - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 96.

Beloved wife of the late John.

Loving mother of Carolyn (Gus) and proud Baba of Anne-Marie (Taras) and Natalie (Ryan).

Born to parents Alfred and Evelyn Davidge on June 18, 1931.

EWEN, Anna  -  It is with fondest memories, that the family of Anna Ewen says goodbye, after she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the age of 83.

She will be deeply missed by her husband and partner of 64 years, Ken Ewen, her two loving daughters Carolyn Ewen (Robert Richard), Susan McLean (Alan), her five grandchildren, Laura, Michelle, Mary, Niki and Scot, and three great-grandchildren Abigail, Luna and Nash.

Naomi's grace and poise guided her to become the first Japanese Canadian to attend the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 1958.

It is with sincere sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Evelyn on January 12, 2022 at Mississauga Trillium Hospital.

Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband Bill, her sisters Josee, and Magdalena and her brother Arnel, as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and children.

Evelyn was born in San Narciso, Philippines on March 11, 1951. She Immigrated to Canada from Italy in the mid-80s. She worked in the medical field in Mississauga.

She met her husband to be - Bill, at a dance and after several months they were married in 1990.

RAJTEK, Mary (nee SAJGALIK)  -  Passed away suddenly, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Humber River Hospital, in her 89th year.

Reunited with her wonderful husband Frank of 63 years who passed away just 3 months earlier.

She is survived by sisters Helen (Mokren) and Betty (Cascagnette), predeceased by sister Olga (Quail) and brother Milan (Sajgalik).

Boone BarbaraBOONE, Barbara Clare (nee PLUMMER)   -  Peacefully, at The Village of Tansley Woods Long Term Care, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in her 91st year.

Barbara Boone, formerly of Oakville and Montreal, and former employee of Sheridan College and Montreal Trust, was predeceased by her beloved husband, Cecil.

Loving mother of Sharon (Gerard) and Allan (Kathy); "Granny" of Jennifer and Sara (Craig) and great-grandmother of Felix.

Dear sister of Judy Feeney (Mike) and aunt to Chris, Lisa and Elaine (John).

It is with great sadness that we share with family and friends the passing of Joan Sasaki.

Loving partner of the late Richard Grant, cherished daughter of the late Fred and Naka Sasaki, loving sister to Paul Sasaki (Karen Sasaki) and loving sister to the late Nana Sasaki (Gerald Diggins).

She will be dearly missed by her nieces Crystal Sasaki (Trevor and Ava Hoad), Lori Sasaki and her nephew Derek Sasaki and all who knew and loved her.

Joan was a nature lover and ikebana artist who loved the family farm and gardening.

Wilfredo was born December 21, 1973 in Venezuela.
