Platnick PhyllisPLATNICK, Phyllis Esther Sandler - Passed away peacefully on August 28, 2018.

Born on February 21, 1932 in Toronto to the late Michael and Clara Sandler, Phyllis was predeceased by the love of her life; David Platnick, Ph.D.

Phyllis graduated from Harbord Collegiate; and later received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. Phyllis began her career working in the circulation department in the main library at the University of Toronto.

When David went to study at the University of Rochester, Phyllis went to work in the school's reference library until she was transferred to its archives. Phyllis loved the work there and remarked "where else could one get paid to read other people's mail?"

David's studies then lead him and Phyllis to Syracuse University. While there, Phyllis received her Master's degree in Library Sciences and was asked to design an on-line computer program to organize collections. After finishing her course work in Syracuse, the Platnick Family returned to Canada.

She is survived by her three children: Deborah and Norman Waas; Dr. Howard and Sonia Platnick; Brian Platnick, and her 10 grandchildren: Jessica Levi, David Levi, Vanessa Jay, Daniel Platnick, Joshua Platnick, Zachary Platnick, Sofia Platnick, Jonathan Waas, Michael Waas, and Benjamin Waas.

She is also survived by the greatest sister-in-law and brother-in-law anyone could hope for; Marilyn and Jerry Glass, as well as, her beloved nieces and nephews: Leslie Glass, Corrie Glass, Daniel, Jennet, Jacob and Naomi Sandler, and Aaron, Tammy, Edward, Dana, and Michael Sandler.

The service will take place at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, Toronto on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
