BERG, Gerda Blandina (nee HEIL) - 1928 - 2018 With great sadness we announce Gerda's passing at noon on September 1, 2018 at the age of 90.
Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Fred Berg; loving mother to Gitta and Connie; and proud grandmother to the late Peter and Krista Berg Tesic.
Born April 13, 1928 in Ludwigshafen, Germany, Gerda came to Canada with Fred 64 years ago.
Shortly thereafter, she was joined by her mother, Dina Heil (deceased).
Gerda worked in the Rothman's factory until it closed.
After early retirement, she took care of her grandchildren and spent several months each year at her vacation home in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Gerda adored her family, as well as the many dogs and cats that were an important part of her life. She attended several school reunions in Germany and kept in touch with many relatives and friends there. She will be greatly missed.
Friends are invited to gather at York Funeral Centre, North York, on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. for the visitation and a funeral service at 2 p.m., followed by burial.
