Melady JohnMELADY, John Patrick 'Jack'  -  Peacefully on September 4, 2018 in his 83rd year. Jack passed away at the Princess Margaret hospital in Toronto.

Beloved husband of Merlyn and the late Rejeanne.

Much loved by daughter Christine (Raymond), the late Kathleen, grandchildren Sabrina (Colby), Andrew (Shannon), Noah (Abigail), great grandson Marco and his extended family Maureen (Patrick), Michael (Laurel), Joseph (Ula), grandchildren Matthew, Lukas, Sophia and Jakob.

Jack was born in Windsor, Ontario the 6th child of Thomas and Antoinette. He will be sadly missed by his siblings Mary Marentette (Stan), the late Father Thomas, the late Angela Smith (late Frank), the late Edward, Rita Rose Daley (late Bernard), Paula Conry (Ken) and Michael Melady (Carolan).

Jack was born in Windsor but mostly grew up in Toronto, attended De La Salle, graduated from Universities of Toronto and Wayne State. He was an educator, a teacher and I believe a terrific one. most of his career was divided between three schools Kapuskasing District High, East Elgin Secondary and Streetsville Secondary. Teaching math but mostly sharing his love of literature thru English classes. As a young man he enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and curling, but baseball became his passion becoming a huge Blue Jays fan. He was a member of the Aylmer chapter of the Knights of Columbus even having served as president for a time . Dad was also awarded the Golden Jubilee award for the many hours of volunteer work he did. Jack also loved to read and the challenge of a good crossword puzzle especially sitting out in the morning ,in the circle at the cottage with family , also occuping some of his time, was watching the Jays play on TV , or live games in Toronto or in Florida with family and friends. John P Melady, Jack, was a good man, he loved people, laughed easily, forgave quickly, had a great sense of humor, and we will miss him . I am proud, and blessed to be able to say he was my dad. And for all the people whose lives you touched, thank you, for sharing you with all of us. Rest in Peace.

Family and friends will be received at the Turner and Porter funeral home 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke on Sunday, September 9 from 2 - 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Nativity of our Lord, 480 Rathburn Rd. on Monday, September 10 at 11:30 a.m.
