HICKS, Elizabeth "Nancy" Elizabeth - "Nancy" Hicks died on September 8, 2018, surrounded by love, in her 102nd year.
Nancy loved without reservation, was determined, exuberant, honest and had a passion for life that inspired her many friends and her family.
Born in Southend-on-Sea, Nancy lived through the shortages and separations of war, coming to Canada with her husband Jim in 1947.
Nancy built a happy life in Canada, raising two sons, working as a medical secretary (a job she loved), volunteering, swimming, fishing and travelling.
Nancy was deeply committed to her family including three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Thanks to the staff at the Scarborough Retirement Residence who ensured that Nancy's suite there was truly a home.
Thanks to the staff in the ED and PCU at Scarborough General Hospital who treated Nancy with dignity and compassion in her final days.
Join us in celebrating Nancy's life at Ogden Funeral Home in Toronto, Thursday, September 13, 2018, 4-7 p.m. No flowers please.
