Gordon Henry Von Gronigen Persaud was born on December 25, 1947 in New Amsterdam, Guyana to the late Phulbasia Kathleen Persaud and Charles Harry Persaud. He was the second child, and the first boy

As his close and enduring relationship with his older sister, Pearl (deceased) grew, they added siblings, Doreen, Jerry, Gary and Indira. They would later grow to form an unbreakable bond amongst themselves.

Gordon had a happy childhood and spent most of his life in Georgetown, Guyana. During his time in Guyana he worked for many years along side his mom in their family run business. He also worked for the United States Embassy as a driver for the Ambassador.

Gordon migrated to Canada in January 1981, and went on to marry his girlfriend of several years, Carol. In February 1981 they moved to Brooklyn, New York and began to build a home with their son, Andre. In September 1985 their daughter Ashley was born. Their home was always filled with love and laughter and was open not only to family but to friends as well.

Gordon worked in the metal trades industry, and would go on to retire from this field of work over 30 years later. On June 7, 2019 as the sun set over New York City, Gordon passed peacefully surrounded by those he loved.

He will be greatly missed by his most cherished daughter Ashley, her husband Tony, and his grandchildren Jeremiah and Jaelyn; his brothers Jerry (Schennah) and Gary (Brenna); sisters, Doreen and Indira (Dan); nieces, Sonja, Kathlene (Dontae), Sarah, Elisha (Kyle) and Brianna; nephews, Sean, Travis (Cayley) and Braedan; great-nephews, Malachi and Manuel and brother-in-law, Peter.

He will also be missed by Ramona, his companion of 16 years and her family, especially Alejandro, Irving, Lismairy, and Emanuel; his wife, Carol and son Andre, and her many siblings, also by many other family and friends with whom he continued to have close and caring relationships with.

He loved all those around him deeply and was deeply loved in return. He will forever be missed.
