Swaminathan ChidambaranathamSWAMINATHAN, Chidambaranathan 'Swamy' - (15 February, 193725 June, 2019) Passed away due to prostate cancer in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 82 years.

Chidamb (Swamy) is the beloved husband of Balasundari (aka Mala) for 57 years.

He is the loving Father of Neela Adamski (Krzysztof), Sivakami (John Wonfor) and Kala (Rajan Ram), Granddaughters and Grandsons Sujatha, Konrad, Meena, Stefan and Swetha.

He will be loved, deeply missed and forever remembered by all of his family, friends and colleagues.

Swaminathan was a Professional Engineer. He completed three degrees in India – B.SC., B.E.(Hons) and Masters in Mathematics and Science. He was an Assistant Professor at Annamali University in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India.

He then was offered a scholarship to do a Masters in Engineering degree at Western University of London, Ontario on solar technology. He left India in1968 to pursue his higher studies and completed his M.E. Science degree at Western University, London. He was also awarded a scholarship to do his Doctorate (Ph.D.) on Solar Technology but he couldn’t complete it due to his commitment to his very young family of three little girls so he started a successful career with Ontario Hydro in Toronto, where he worked until his retirement in 1993.

Swaminathan’s biggest achievement is his design and implementation of the Thermal Cooling System for the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station in Pickering, Ontario.

He generously volunteered his spare time at organizations such as the Indian Immigration Service of Canada, India Canada Sanga , Bharathi Kala Mandram and was also a founder & member of Madras Arts & Cultural Association and Tamil Nadu Cultural Society of Canada. He was very instrumental in organizing support groups at the Kidney Foundation of Canada and the Sleep Disorder support group for North York.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 4th from 4 - 8pm at the Jerrett Life Celebration Centre, 8088 Yonge St, Thornhill, Ontario. Private Cremation.

In Memory of Chidamb, donations may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Canada.
