Baedak HarryBAEDAK, Harry Lee - (November 13, 1922 – June 9, 2019)Harry Lee, born November 13, 1922 transitioned from Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, B.C. on June 9, 2019.

Born in Golden B.C., Harry’s family moved to Sumas Prairie in 1929, and then to North Surrey in 1935, where his parents farmed strawberries. Enthralled by a “yellow bi-plane barnstormer” when he was about 12 years old, he decided then and there that he wanted to fly.

Harry joined the R.C.A.F. in October 1943, and in 1944, was a founding member of the newly minted 436th Transport Squadron in India.

He went on to fly as a pilot for CP Air in 1951, retiring in 1982.

Harry was honoured with a Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 73 years, most recently at Branch 240 in Crescent Heights for the past 30 + years. Harry had many adventures camping, canoeing and hiking, both solo and with his beloved family.

He was a thoughtful and proud father of four children, Gene, Joan, Linda and Allan. His wife, Eileen, transitioned in 1995 and daughter Linda in 2018.

Harry is survived by his children Gene (Cherry), Joan and Allan (Andrea), four grandchildren, David, Ken, Tam & Josh, four grandchildren by marriage, Poppy, Lauren, Bradley & Austin, four great grandchildren, Tyler, Adam, Brynn & Sabrina and his beloved friend Beverley, of Calgary.

A celebration of Harry’s wonderful life will be held on Saturday August 10th at 1 pm at Crescent United Church, 2756-127 Street in Surrey, B.C.
