Walker HelenWALKER, Helen Emily (née Sutton)   -  Went to be with the Lord, peacefully, with family by her side, in the early morning on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Tillsonburg, Ontario, at the age of 96.

Beloved wife of the late David Arthur Walker (January 20, 2017), darling Mother of Pat (Albert), and the late Rick (October 22, 2016), and dearly loved and cherished Grandma of Amy (Robert).

Helen Emily was predeceased by her husband David, son Rick, parents Harry Alfred Sutton and Kate Foreman, sisters Evelyn Norris and Ada Upton, and brother Harry Sutton.

Also grieving Helen Emily’s loss are her many nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Don, sister-in-law Mary, and cherished cousin Glad.

Born in Delson, Quebec, Helen Emily moved to Toronto with her family at the age of 3. She grew up in the Scarlett Rd. and St. Clair Ave. area, attending Lambton Park School, and Runnymede Collegiate, and was a former employee of CCM. In 1943 she and David were married, and they lived in Toronto and raised their family there, (with a two-year residence in Winnipeg), before retiring to Tillsonburg in 1988. Helen and David enjoyed square dancing and travelled many places with their square dancing group. Helen Emily loved knitting, baking, gardening, sports, and especially loved the Toronto Blue Jays, but her greatest love was her family. Helen Emily had an unwavering faith in the Lord, and read her Bible daily. David and Helen were parishioners of First Baptist Church, Tillsonburg. She was known for her love of family, care of others, her strong will and determination, quick wit, and her zingy one-liners. Our lives have been forever touched by her, and she will be deeply missed.

'Our sincerest gratitude to the staff and everyone at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg for their kind and compassionate care of our Mom and Grandma for so many years.'

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave) Weston, on Thursday, August 22 from 6-9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Sanctuary Park.

If desired, donations in Helen Emily’s memory can be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
