Nguyen MyNGUYEN, My Thi - 91, of Vaughan, Ontario, passed away on October 14, 2019 after a valiant battle with kidney disease.

My was born on July 1, 1928 to Nguyen Van Em and Mai Thi Hoai in Vinh-Long, Vietnam. She grew up in Tay Ninh and was married to Ta Van Manh in 1951. After their marriage, My and Manh left Tay Ninh and settled in Saigon where Manh started a job at the Vietnamese National Rail as a civil servant while building a young family with My. My was a supportive and effective home-maker to Manh, and a dedicated, caring and loving mother to seven children, consisting of six daughters and one son.

My immigrated to Canada with Manh and her fifth daughter Huong to live with her youngest daughter, Phuong in 1990. She became a Canadian citizen in 1994 while a resident of Toronto. She lived in Toronto until 2010 when she moved to Vaughan with Huong in their new home.

My enjoyed living in Canada and particularly in the greater Toronto area where she had access to public transit to visit local marts; she loved ethnic food and import tropical fruits - a favourite part of her daily diet. She enjoyed sight-seeing and making small trips with Manh and her friends whenever they could in North America, Europe, or Vietnam. In the summer, she enjoyed spending time with her family at fresh water beaches in Ontario. Her favourite spot is Wasaga Beach at Georgian Bay.
My held an unwavering faith in Buddhism; she would regularly go to her Buddhist pagoda when she could.

My joins her parents, Em and Hoai, husband Manh, daughters My Anh and My Dung, and son Tien in heaven.

She is survived by son-in-law, Vo Lam Ba (My Anh’s husband and their children, Mai Anh and Duc Anh in Belgium), daughter My Ngoc (and My Ngoc’s husband, Lam Phi Hao and children, Thanh Mai and Thanh Lan in Germany), daughter My Lien (and My Lien’s husband, Do Dinh Thanh and children, Dinh Trung and Cao Tam in Belgium), daughters My Huong and My Phuong (and My Phuong’s husband Tran Tan Khung and children Lan Phuong and Cao Anh in Canada), and grand-daughter Ta Thuy Trang in Australia.
