ELISIO, Ascenzo - Passed away peacefully on Friday October 18, 2019 in his ninetieth year. He left us the only way he would have wanted: surrounded by his entire family.
He enjoyed his food, drink, laughter and opera music and he was extremely proud of his roots in his hometown of Palena. There was nothing he loved more than his family, and his family loved nobody more than their Nonno Ascenzo. He will be missed immensely.
Ascenzo Giuseppe Elisio was born on November 18, 1929 in his hometown of Palena, Chieti, Italy, and he passed away in his home in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He is predeceased by his mother Rosa Campana, his father Francesco Elisio (Carmela Macario), his brothers Giuseppe, Giovanni, and his sister Marianna Elisio.
Ascenzo is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Concetta.
His children Rosanna (Franco), Francesco (Laura), Maria Pia (Enzo), and Giovanni (Athanasia).
His grandchildren Daniel (Jeanette), Jason (Dayna), Claudia (Paulo), Erikka (Mathew), Trevor (Paige), David, Evan, Luke and Sarah.
His great grandchildren Victoria, Nicholas, Andrew, Amelia, Luca, and Adrian.
His best pal Nesta.
The family would like to extend special recognition and thanks to his palliative care team of Dr. Albert Kirshen, Nurse Moein, and care coordinator Shafana.
Visitation will be held at Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough on October 20th from 2:00 PM - 04:00 PM and 5:00 PM - 08:00 PM. The service will take place at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 3200 Pharmacy Avenue, Toronto on October 21st at 9:00 AM.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers,donations can be made to Daily Televised Mass and the Sunnybrook Foundation.
