ALWAY, Marjorie Lougheed (Young)  -   At age 94, passed away peacefully at Elginwood Long Term Care (Richmond Hill, Ontario) on November 9, 2019; family were by her side on her final day.

Marjorie was born in Montréal, Québec to the late Jack and Lily Young. She worked as a medical secretary for almost 20 years until marrying her husband, Allan, in 1960 and relocating to Toronto. In their senior years, Allan and Marjorie lived in Stouffville, Ontario with family.

Marjorie was an intelligent and creative person with a wonderful sense of humour. She enjoyed reading, music of all kinds, knitting and sewing, cooking, along with playing the piano and organ. She had a great love of animals and enjoyed spending time with her beloved pets – especially her dog Finnigan. More than anything, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them.

Marjorie was predeceased (in 2014) by her loving husband of 53 years, Allan Lloyd George Alway. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jane Ellen Alway and Heather Joan Alway Lai; sons-in-law, Blair Stainton and Ken Lai; and much-loved grandchildren, Christopher, Timothy and Jennifer Lai; fond memories of Marjorie are shared with Jennifer Lai’s fiancé, Phillip Amaral. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Elginwood and Mackenzie Place for their care during Marjorie’s last decade of life.

A private family memorial will be held in her honour at the family home in Stouffville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to The Alzheimer Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
