Dimitroff DanDIMITROFF, Dan - Dan passed away peacefully at Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care on January 21, 2020 in his 80th year.

Loving husband of Elvie (nee Rodney) for 52 years, and beloved father of Kevin (Nicole) and Craig (Veronica). Proud grandfather of Yolanda, Olivia, Amelia, Xavier, Tieg, Keely, Dax and Annika.

Brother of Penca Wright and brother-in-law to Judy MacDonald (Keith) and Patricia Rodney (Ralph Downey). Uncle to Kathy Hughson (Dave), Mark Wright and Andrew Farr; great uncle to Alan and Matthew Majik.

Son of the late Encho and Vulka Dimitroff.

After time spent in the Air Force, Dan worked as a maintenance mechanic for Addressograph Multigraph, and then Security Card Systems (through many of their incarnations), for 28 years.

After retirement, Dan took up work as an airport limo driver where during 9/11, he drove passengers across the border from Toronto. Dan then worked for Laidlaw Transportation (First Student) for 10 years before finally completely retiring.

Special thanks to the ALC staff at Norfolk General Hospital and to Tony Stacey staff for their care and attention over the last few years.

Dan will be remembered for his love of reading, music, food and wine, summer baseball and travel. An annual highlight for Dan for many years was playing Santa at his work’s Christmas party (he only needed the fake beard for a few years). Dan had a wonderful social nature and was also a great dancer!

Friends can call at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket on January 25th. Visitation from 2-4 pm, followed by a service at 4 pm and reception. Cremation to follow at a later date

Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society in Dan’s name in lieu of flowers.
