DIAVOLITSIS, George - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Diavolitsis, peacefully at Scarborough Grace Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
Cherished father of Tina (and her husband Tony), Helen (and her husband Fabio), and Evangelos.
Loving Pappou of Lucas, Xander, Mateo, Elia and Romeo.
He is survived by his sister, Dimitra Argyropoulos and is also survived by his former wife Irene with whom he lovingly raised his family and grandchildren with.
George was born in Kyparissia a town in northwestern Messenia, Peloponnese. George was proud of his heritage and his love for everything Greek. His passion for Greek literature and music was shared and passed on to his children and he epitomized the meanings of the words kefi and Philoxenia. He was a man of the people and a man ahead of his time who had many hobbies such as cooking, creating organic medicinal remedies and gardening.
He loved his farm and especially enjoyed bringing family and friends together both at the farm and in his home. He was loved by his nieces, nephews and grandchildren and they equally loved him as he was the fun factor in everyone’s life.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 5:00PM - 9:00PM and on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9:30AM - 10:30AM. The funeral service will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr., Toronto on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:30AM.
