GILLETZ, Norene Lynn (Rykiss) - Peacefully, after a valiant struggle, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 23, 2020.

Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Jodi and Paul Sprackman, Steven and Cheryl Gilletz, Doug and Ariane Gilletz.

Devoted Bubby of Lauren, and Camille, Max, Sam, and Zak.

Loving sister of Rhonda Matias and Bruce Rykiss.

Dear daughter of the late Belle and the late Max Rykiss.

Loving Auntie Norene of Debbi-Jo Matias and Kevin Filkow, Marshall Matias and Merav Barr.

Norene's accomplishments as a trailblazing cookbook author, cooking instructor and lecturer garnered her a devoted following of "Noreners" throughout the world. She will be sadly missed by the innumerable lives that she has touched either directly or through her recipes that will carry on her legacy.

The family wishes to acknowledge with great appreciation the love and care received from her second family in Toronto (you know who you are), as well as the health care professionals at the Palliative Care Units at both the Jewish General Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital.

Special thanks to Dr. Marcia Gillman and Vivian Myron at JGH for their kindness, understanding and fine care.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, Montreal on Thursday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at 6185 avenue MacDonald, Montreal, Thursday following burial until5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the "Norene Lynn Gilletz Memorial Fund" c/o the Jewish General Hospital Foundation.
