KONOWALUK, Helen (Olena) - 96, passed away peacefully early Monday, March 23, at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Center in Toronto.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mychajlo Konowaluk, who died May 7, 1997.
Helen was born on 8/24/1924 in Ukraine in the Ivano-Frankivsk oblast. After the war, she migrated to Scotland where she married Mychajlo Konowaluk. She was blessed with the birth of her daughter Oksana and first son Meron (deceased) and lived in Scotland until 1960.
The family immigrated to Toronto Canada where her second son Roman was born. In Toronto they made a life over many years and instilling the Ukrainian culture to their children and made many friends in the Ukrainian community.
She leaves behind Oksana and her husband Stepan Berky was blessed with Four grandchildren, Michael, son of Meron and Sandi Konowaluk, Malanka, Andrew and William, children of Roman and Marusia Konowaluk currently residing in the United States, as well as cousins and extended family in the UK.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and loved to please everyone. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will lay Helen to rest in a private ceremony due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
