Amato JohnAMATO, John - (June 1959 - May 2020) - Peacefully in hospital, John passed away after a lengthy battle with many chronic health issues.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend Marion of 29 years. Cherished father of James, Shane, Brandon, John and Luke.

Beloved son of late Carmine and Vincenzina Amato and adored son-in-law of Bruce and Gail Medcalf. Dear brother of Maria (John), Frank (Rose) and Louise (Rob).

Uncle Johnny will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and will be missed by his many friends.

John worked as a Service Technician in both the automobile and trucking industries and it was through his work he met many of his lifelong friends.

John enjoyed the outdoors and would spend many summers in Haliburton boating and fishing with his family. He cherished his bass boat and escaped the hectic pace of the city every chance he could get. In between fishing holes, he loved to speed up and down the lake and wave to cottagers as they glared at him wondering when he was going home. One thing about John, he was going to have fun no matter what people thought!

John will live on in the eyes of his children and will remain in our hearts forever. We know that he is in a better place and we are relieved that he is no longer suffering.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to A GoFundMe page which has been created for John's minor children at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/Amato-Family-Trust?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

Or donations may also be made to the Scarborough Health Network - Dialysis and Diabetes Care.
