Sierant AnitaSIERANT, Anita - On Saturday May 23, 2020, loving wife and mother of three children passed away at the age of 49 after a brief, but incredibly brave fight with cancer.

Anita was born on December 22nd, 1970 in Sanok, Poland to parents Wojciech Sierant and Maria Sierant (née Starego). She was the youngest of three children (by some margin), and was loved dearly by her brother Dariusz and sister Bożena.

Anita came to Canada in search of a better life and finished her high school education in Canada. She had her first two children, Kenneth and Philip two years apart in the late 1990’s, followed by Alex more than ten years later; who like her, is the youngest of his siblings by more than a decade.

Anita’s children are, and will forever be her pride and joy. There is nothing she wanted more than to see them through their weddings, help them raise their children (her future grandchildren), and see them fulfill their potential both in academics and in their careers. Although not in person, she will forever be watching over her children from heaven, and will be with them through the journey of their lives.

Anita was happiest when she was lying on a beach in the sunshine, swimming in the ocean, and scuba diving to explore the wonders of the sea. She loved to travel to new beaches and to scuba dive in new locations and was always planning the next trip. Her love for the sea and sunshine often prompted us to joke that she is, in fact creature of the sea rather than of land. Her outgoing and joyful nature, beautiful smile, and selflessness left a mark on everyone that had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her.

Anita was also a very talented dancer who loved dancing and would find every excuse to turn music on at home to dance. The world will not be the same without her. She was a ray of sunshine that would brighten the day of everyone she came across. Her dream was to retire with her loving husband Metin to a paradise in Turkey where they could both enjoy the sun in their retirement. This was a goal she was working towards for years, even learning the basics of speaking Turkish on Duolingo every night for the last few years.

Anita was preceded by her father Wojciech and her sister Bożena. She is survived by her husband Metin, her three children, Alex, Philip and Kenneth, her brother Dariusz and her mother Maria.

Visitation and a short funeral service will be held for Anita on Friday May 29th, 2020 at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, followed by a burial at York Cemetery. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we are limiting invitations to the visitation and funeral service to just the closest family members and friends.

We invite everyone who would like to pay their respects to Anita to participate in the live stream of the visitation and funeral service and to send flowers.
