McMinn JoanMcMINN, Joanne Beverly 'Joan' - (April 16, 1932 - May 25, 2020) - It is with much sadness we inform you that Joan McMinn passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 88, on May 25th, 2020.

Joan was a loving cousin, aunt, daughter, and friend. She was genuine, thoughtful, generous and kind to a fault. Anyone whose life she touched came away a little better for it.

Joan was a remarkable teacher of French and German at David and Mary Thomson Collegiate and Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute. Teaching was her passion and she is remembered to this day by her many students. Her dedication shone through and she touched many young lives.

When opportunity presented itself, Joan loved to travel with friends and family, a favourite destination was Europe.

Joan was also a devoted member of the St. Luke’s Anglican Church in East York and she spent many happy times there. This was a very important part of her life.

Joan always made people smile and laugh, we will miss this very much. We were very lucky to have her and we hope she knew just how much she was loved.

Joan leaves behind her cousin and best friend Helen, her nieces and nephews, Doug, Ann, Bob, and Ellie and their spouses Blaine, Jackie, and Chris, as well as their children and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Joseph McMinn. Joan will be missed greatly by all.

Thank you to everyone who was there for her to make her days easier. We have appreciated this very much and it’s important to us that you know that.

Due to the current situation a celebration of Joan’s life will be held at a later date. She will be interred at the Pine Hills Cemetery in Scarborough. Arrangments with Thompson funeral home, Aurora.

If you wish to make a donation in Joan’s memory, please choose your favourite charity.
