Before emigrating to Canada, he was a planter in the Kandy district. He had an esteemed green thumb, walked so quietly he could easily sneak up on you trying to break into his secret chocolate covered almonds collection, and was a blanket-fort-builder and ravine-explorer extraordinaire. We will miss his newsboy cap, his photography collection, and him sharing all the snippets of news he learned from CNN that day.
He is survived by, and will remain forever in the hearts and memories of: his children Kamalini (California), Kumudhini (Kuckoo) (Toronto) and Surendralingam (Suren) (Chicago), his grandchildren Prashanth, Kartiga, Krishna, Hari and Anusha, and his children-in-law Kuga, Raj and Manjari.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Advocacy Centre for the Elderly, a group in Toronto that advocates for the rights of senior citizens at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/id/1181/#donate-now-pane .
Respecting the current physical distancing laws in place in Ontario, a private funeral will be held in Toronto on Sunday, May 31st at 1:30 pm.
