ROLLS, Marrietta Rolls - Gentle, supportive, loving and caring, a shining light! These are just a few words that describe our dear mother, Marietta Rolls, who passed away on May 23, 2020 in her 85th year.
In 1958, she bravely immigrated to Canada to begin a new life, first settling in Sault Ste. Marie, following a strong Finnish-Canadian community. It was there that she met her future husband and our father, John.
Mom loved listening to music, singing, playing the piano, saunas, and laughing. Family was always very important, whether it be at the cottage in Muskoka, vacationing in Florida, or simply living life at home in Willowdale. Survived by her three children, Christine (Evan), Patrick, and Cathleen and forever remembered by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Dave (Lora), Corum, Timothy, and Edmund.
Mom touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, particularly to those in need of care. She maintained her trademark sense of humour all the way to the end. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Mom’s life will be announced at a later date.
Sincere gratitude to the Bayview Extendicare East Unit support team for the wonderful care you gave to our Mom!
For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Alzheimers Society.
