Seepersad DanSEEPERSAD, Ruthven Dyanand 'Dan'  - Passed peacefully in the early hours of June 2, 2020 after a difficult journey with Lewy body dementia with Parkinson’s.

He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Darryl and Colin; daughter, Lee-Ann; eldest sister, Lorraine; youngest brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Beena; sister, Kamla; nieces and nephews, Nishi, Annalisa, Nalini, Karen, Crystal (Clint), Kevin (Ashley); and his great-niece, Julia.

Ruthven was born on September 27, 1948 to Cyrus Seepersad and Jessie Christina Chinibas in Trinidad. He was raised by his uncle Vernon and aunt Mathilda Dookie. He immigrated to Canada in September 1970. On August 8, 1981 Ruthven married his beloved wife, Pandora Peggy Seepersad (née Balkissoon) and together raised a family of three children.

Ruthven was a graduate of San Juan Presbyterian Primary School and Osmond High School. He attended Seneca College after moving to Canada. He had a successful career as an Audit and Controls Consultant in the banking industry in downtown Toronto. His career allowed him to travel internationally to such places as Barcelona, Barbados and the United States.

Ruthven was a devoted father who shared his love for sports with his children and in his later years he grew to be an avid golfer. He enjoyed collecting watches, fountain pens and stationary. He was a problem-solver, meticulous handyman and gardener, who took on many projects around the house. He generously sponsored children through World Vision and supported his local hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital, through donations.

We are immensely grateful for the care of Dr. M. Guttman, Dr. R. Sethna and Dr. S. Marrisette; the palliative care team at Markham Stouffville Hospital; the medical staff at Margaret Bahen Hospice; and most importantly our Personal Support Workers who were with us throughout Ruthven's illness.

A funeral service will take place at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham. As a result of the current restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic, the service is limited to immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously accepted in memory of Ruthven to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
