Rice PaulRICE, Paul Glen - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Paul Rice announces his passing, peacefully at home with family by his side on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Loving, devoted father of Liam and Ava. Beloved son of Sherry and Wayne Rice. Deeply missed by his sister Tanya Rice.

Dear uncle to Reeve and Kendall Suggitt. Much-loved nephew and godson of Cathy (Dan) Sherman and Donald (Dawn) Rice. Cherished cousin to Jill Sherman and Denver Rice. Special friend and co-parenting partner of Melissa Rice (Bruder).

Treasured by his extended family and many friends.

Predeceased by his grandparents Bill and Helen Peters, and Ruby and Don Rice.

Paul lived his life and pursued his passions with unending energy. He loved to create lasting memories for his family and his sense of humour and charisma could light up a room. He bravely faced his cancer diagnosis and taught us a great deal about friendship, love, patience, and compassion. More than anything, he loved being a dad. He was an inspiration to his children and was extremely proud of the young adults they are becoming.

Paul was gifted musically, playing and studying guitar since he was a teenager. He loved carpentry, and created countless beautiful woodworking projects over the years. He looked forward to summer trips every year and loved to spend warm sunny days at cottages, going camping, fishing, and soaking up the sun.

Paul worked extremely hard in his professional life, obtaining his Engineering degree through many years of part time study at McMaster University. He was the Assistant Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager at Toyota Boshoku in Elmira and was very respected by all of his past and present colleagues.

Paul always put other people’s feelings first. To everyone who knew him, he was generous and kind-hearted, as well as being a positive influence in many people's lives. His warm smile and ability to make us all laugh will be sorely missed.

Paul’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team of doctors at London Health Sciences Centre – London Regional Cancer Program, especially Dr. Eric Winquist, Dr. John Yoo, and Dr. Anthony Nichols, as well as the committed team of nurses from ParaMed Home Health Care, Kitchener, and Waterloo-Wellington Local Health Integration Network, eShift Care Partners for their outstanding home care and compassion.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Paul’s life will be announced and held at a later date due to provincial restrictions on public gatherings.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to London Health Sciences Foundation – London Regional Cancer Program (https://lhsf.ca/) are appreciated by the family.
