Macapaga FranciscoMACAPAGAL, Francisco Sarmiento - With great sadness, we announce the passing of our father, Francisco Sarmiento Macapagal.

Our dad was fighting his battle with lung cancer since January of 2019. On July 15, 2020 shortly after midnight, he breathed his last breath.

We are relieved he passed peacefully and is no longer in pain. He was surrounded by his wife Olivia (Reyes), his sons, Stephen, Francis and Oliver, and his daughter and her family, Alexandra, Jon-Michael, Kaelyn Renae and Isaiah Francisco.

Francisco was born in Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines on December the first, 1948. He moved to Toronto in 1970 and fell in love with his wife Olivia in 1971, as she was getting off the airplane to move to Canada. The rest is history.

Our dad will always be remembered for his pandesal, ham, fried rice, beef and broccoli, and adobo, to name a few. He was an amazing cook and a loving father. More than anything, he was the most proud of being Kaelyn and Isaiah’s Lolo.

If it was up to our dad he would have worn jogging pants every time he left the house (yes, including funerals). And if any of you are like us, you're worried your new covid-bod won't be fitting nicely into your black dress clothes. With that being said, as per request of our dad and our family, please come to the celebration of his life in casual wear and bright colours. He suggested jogging pants and Hawaiian shirts, but come in whatever you find comfortable.

Visitation arrangements with Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Friday, July 17th, 2020.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Princess Margaret Hospital via Francis' charity bike ride that he will be completing with a few of his friends in August. The funds will be directed to their palliative care team, who always ensured that our Dad was as comfortable as possible.
