SANDIFORD, Lorna Jessie (née Cook) - Lorna died quietly at Bethany Lodge in Unionville, Ontario on July 31, 2020 due to complications from stroke. She was 94.

Lorna Sandiford was born on May 4, 1926 in Kingston, Ontario to her parents, Lorne and Lillian Cook. She graduated from Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

She married Charles John Sandiford in 1950. The Sandifords lived throughout Canada, before settling permanently in Markham, Ontario in 1968. Lorna held several positions over the years as a bookkeeper and became the Circulation Manager for the Markham Economist and Sun newspaper.

Lorna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, C. James “Jim” Sandiford and Cheryl and their children Emily and Laura Rose of Markham, ON; her son and daughter-in-law Robert “Bob” Sandiford and Valerie and their children Benjamin and Rebecca of Newmarket, ON; and her son and daughter-in-law David “Dave” Sandiford and Judy and their daughter Alice of Aurora, ON.

Lorna was predeceased by her husband Charles, and her brother Robert.

Special thanks to the Caregivers of Bethany Lodge. Mom’s comfort and care have always been the priority and their efforts in recent months have been herculean.

Lorna Sandiford will be cremated in a private ceremony on August 6th. A private family memorial will take place to celebrate Lorna’s life. Arrangements with Chapel Ridge funeral home.
