MASKOWITZ, Marvin – Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
Beloved husband for 66 years to Toby Maskowitz (nee Fromowitz). Loving Father of Martin and Ziva Maskowitz, Debra and Lenny Libman, Alyssa and Shaul Zobary and Brian and Amy Moss.
Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Jack and Lauren Maskowitz, Rose and George Orenstein, Larry z”l and Marilyn Fromowitz, and Michael z”l and Marli Fromowitz.
Deeply loved Grandfather of Maital, Lee-at, Avi-ad and Aviva, Adeana, Jake and Sara, Zachary, Erez and Gili. Super Zaidy to Aviella, Etiel, Eliora, Eliraz, Shirelle and Nadav.
Predeceased by his Parents Martin and Jean Maskowitz and his sisters Dorothy Maskowitz, Jean Stein, Mildred Dinkfelt and Ethel Katz of Pittsburgh. Marvin was also much loved and adored by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
Marvin’s connection and commitment to his Jewish roots began at an early age. Marvin was sent to the Lubavitch Center at 770 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, New York to learn the year leading up to his Bar Mitzvah where he received a blessing from the Rebbe. Marvin was a member of Beth Tikvah Synagogue for over 52 years where he enjoyed Shabbat and Holiday services and various educational programs. Marvin’s commitment, dedication and love of his heritage was passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marvin’s work ethic, generous spirit, gentle soul and complete dedication to his family served as an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Marvin was a great role model and had the unique ability to relate to all generations. He was incredibly kind and this radiated from both his actions and his warm familiar smile.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Marvin was a successful businessman before moving into the field of education where he was known as a respected and loved teacher and Dean of Students. Marvin spent the last 25 years in the workforce as a distinguished Supervisor at the Ontario Correctional Institute heading up a major treatment centre.
The family would like to thank Marvin’s amazing, caring and professional medical team. Our special appreciation goes to Dr. Neil Fleshner and the Princess Margaret team, Dr. Russell Goldman and Dr. Sid Nusinowitz. Their loving care and commitment to our Father will never be forgotten!
Arrangements with Steeles Memorial Chapel. A Family graveside service will be held on Friday, November 13th at Pardes Shalom Cemetery.
