ELLIOTT, Mary (May) Margaret (nee RITCHIE) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary (May) Margaret Elliott (nee Ritchie) on January 8, 2021, in Collingwood, Ontario, in her 87th year.
May was born in Scotland in 1933. After her parents deaths, as an only child, she was left to raise herself and put herself through nursing school. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years.
May immigrated to Canada in 1963 with her husband John Elliott and their three young children.
In 1973, May and John had their fourth child, Karen, who brought much joy to their lives.
May never remarried after the death of her husband, who predeceased her by 29 years.
She is survived by her son Alan, his wife Lori and her grandson John; her son John and his wife Brenda; her daughter Susan and grandchildren Jason and his wife Julie and great-grandchildren Aidan and Liam, and grandchildren Christopher and Jennifer; and daughter Karen and her husband Dr. Henry Koo and grandchildren Ava, Gemma, Stirling and Tala.
We love you to the moon and back, love always from The Koo family. May was much-loved by her family, friends, colleagues and people she encountered throughout her life. The family would like to acknowledge the love and support of Dr. Sheldon and Myra Katz.
May will be cremated and her ashes returned to Scotland, where she will be joining her Mum and loving husband. Her love for Scotland was strong and she especially loved sharing her trips back with her family.
One memorable trip back to North Uist was in 2007.
A celebration of life will take place when we can all safely gather.
