Panopoulos AngeloPANOPOULOS, Angelo - (October 18, 1940 – January 18, 2021)

It is with great sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Angelo Panopoulos, at the age of 80.

Angelo will be fondly remembered for the humble, sincere and hardworking man that he was by his entire family and his friends. He loved and cherished his wife Nouli of 51 years, his wonderful children and precious grandchildren.

Angelo had Alzheimer’s for over nine years and never forgot his grandchildren’s names, they were Papou’s sweethearts, his pride and joy.

Angelo was born in the beautiful northern village of Kratero, Greece in 1940. At the age of 19 he decided to move to Canada and arrived by boat in Halifax to begin a new life in May of 1960. He loved Toronto and often spoke of his single days playing soccer with his friends at Withrow Park.

Angelo returned to Greece in 1969 to meet and marry his beautiful wife Nouli. They started a family and moved to Scarborough. Angelo took great pride in his vegetable garden, his flowers and all of his fruit trees. They enjoyed watching hockey together, he was always a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan.

As a family, we will always be grateful for all the love, care and comfort our Mom provided for our Dad throughout his life. She was his angel and now he is ours. He fought hard with every hurdle and illness he encountered, he was a strong, gentle man.

We thank the wonderful staff, PSW’s and nurses at The Hellenic Home for the Aged for the care and compassion they provided daily, especially during the toughest year with this pandemic.

Angelo will be remembered by his kindness, sense of humour and calling all the staff “beautiful."

We would also like to thank the incredible nurses and doctors at Scarborough General Hospital for always providing the utmost dignity and care for Angelo. Considering all the restrictions currently, we will always be thankful to them for allowing us to be there with him during his final hours.

Due to the current provincial lockdown restrictions, Angelo’s funeral will be private.Arrangments entrusted with Ogden funeral home, Scarborough.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Greek Community of Toronto or to The Alzheimer Society of Toronto in his honour. http://on.alz.to/goto/angelo

You will be forever loved and deeply missed. We will cherish all of our wonderful memories and know you will be near us in spirit. Until we meet again.
