Smith Thomas AlfredSMITH, Thomas Alfred - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas on March 2, 2021. Surrounded by loved ones in his home in Toronto, he succumbed quietly in his sleep following a battle with kidney disease.

Tom was born in Gibraltar on April 19, 1931 to Alfred and Julia Smith. A fiercely proud Gibraltarian, Husband, Brother (to Julie McGrail), Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, & Uncle to many.

He married Angela Yome on July 4, 1958. Together they raised three wonderful children: Julie (married to Gilbert Gonzalez), Vivian (married to Mark Debruyn) and Alfred (married to Tali Watkin).

Cherished Grandfather to Gilbert, Andrew, Lindsay, Julia, George, Rebecca and Adam.

Blessed with 3 Great Grandchildren he adored: Kian, Shaun and Hudson. His family was his world, and they were always in his constant thoughts and prayers.

One of his greatest loves was photography. He has captured many of the family's most precious moments, and this photographic legacy will live on as his gift for many generations to come. His insistence that all family gatherings be photographed will be deeply missed. Another great love was the sea, and he spent countless hours happily swimming, snorkeling, and fishing.

A devoted Anglican who served his Church, The Holy Trinity Cathedral in Gibraltar for many years, he embraced life with unflinching Christian beliefs of kindness, charity, love and compassion.

While he will be forever missed by his family, they all know he is looking over them and protecting them wherever he is. His memory is a blessing to his family and friends. May he rest peacefully in God's good grace.

In lieu of flowers we would request any gift be a charitable donation to The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care or to the Canadian Kidney Foundation.
