Maynard KennethMAYNARD, Kenneth Norman   -  Ken passed away in the early hours of his 87th birthday following a brief illness.

A member of the Rotary Club of Woodbridge since 1962 and Paul Harris Fellow, Ken believed strongly in the Rotary mottos of "Service above Self" and "One profits most who serves best".

As a 5th generation resident of Woodbridge, Ontario, Ken lived the Rotary motto by serving his community in many capacities with honour and distinction.

At 86 years of age Ken, an Honorary Life Director, helped manage last years Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth Competition for the Woodbridge Fall Fair, which saw the competition's most successful event to date.

Ken was the recipient of the Ontario Agricultural Societies Service Diploma in 1990 Avid local historian and storyteller, Ken was instrumental in development of the Historic Wallace House. Past Chairman of Heritage Vaughan and current treasurer of the Vaughan Historical Society.

Ken was presented with the Lieutenant Governors Heritage Award for Lifetime achievement in 2013 He led the charge to preserve many important built and natural heritage sites in the City. Ken was also a multiple recipient of the City of Vaughan volunteer service award.

The fine example of his commitment to family, community and service continues to live on in all of his children and grandchildren, From working on the frontlines of the current pandemic to serving on a range of community organizations, holding some of the same positions that he once held.

Ken will be terribly missed by so many across this community and beyond. Especially his loving wife of 60 years Taflyn Maynard (nee Sale), his three sons, his grandchildren, sister Anne Lovett and all of his loving and supportive extended family. His impact was great.

A Funeral service will be held when we can all meet again in community fellowship.

Donations in Ken's memory will be welcomed by Christ Church Woodbridge and Rotary Foundation. "The three most important ways to LEAD people are... by example... by example... by example" (Albert Schweitzer).
