BLUGERMAN, Frances - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Blugerman. She died peacefully in her 104th year on April 3, 2021.
Beloved wife of the late Albert Blugerman and mother of Trudy Blugerman and Brian Blugerman.
Predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Clara Glassman and her sister Marion Garmaise.
Her light will live on in those who knew and loved her. Born Fradel Tziporah on October 25, 2017 in Korosten, Ukraine, Frances came to Canada at the age of eight in 1925 with her parents and younger sister, Marion.
The family moved to Winnipeg where the girls attended school, went to camp, and attended university while their parents operated a grocery store. They were very close with their Glassman relatives who spread out across the prairies.
In 1947 Frances met her future husband, and the love of her life, Albie Blugerman. The two married and moved into a third-floor walk-up apartment on College Street. Their daughter Gitl/Trudy was born in 1950. In 1954 they moved to Grace St. for the birth of their son Brian.
After the death of her beloved Albie in 1984, Frances continued to work at Baycrest and stayed active with friends and family.
Frances met life's challenges with unflagging courage and enthusiasm. Her sense of humour, her great laugh, and her wisdom will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
