Burns John JackBURNS, Fr. John 'Jack' Patrick, SJ - John P. (Jack) Burns of the Society of Jesus died very peacefully on April 5, 2021 at René Goupil House in Pickering, ON.

Jack was born in Winnipeg, MB, the son of David Burns and Mary E. Primeau. He was 74 years old and in his 58th year as a Jesuit.

In Winnipeg Jack taught at St. Paul’s High School and served at St. Ignatius Parish. He did pastoral ministry in St. John’s (NFLD), Thunder Bay, Wikwemikong ON and at Our Lady of Lourdes in Toronto. He spent two years in Bangalore, India.

For the last 23 years of his life, Jack lived in Pickering at Rene Goupil House (Jesuit Infirmary) where he did some pastoral ministry and a ministry of prayer for the world.

Due to current restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14th at 10 am at the St. Ignatius Chapel at Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre in Pickering (*a link to the livestream is available on the Rosar-Morrison funeral home website).

Interment follows at the Jesuit Cemetery, Guelph, ON.
