Doherty HughDOHERTY, Hugh Benedict - (September 8, 1930 – April 11, 2021) (Co. Donegal, Ireland)

Proud 65 year Member of Local 721 – Ironworkers.

Devoted husband to Gerdie (nee Murphy) (deceased). The best father to Hugh (Sandy), Danny (deceased), Kevin (Vicki), Maureen (Kevin) and Aidan Carr.

An even better grandfather to Michael (Jill), Katelyn (Brad), Kevin Jr., Siobhan, Liam and Charlie. Great-grandfather to Emelia and Mackenzie. Doherty: Brother to Tim (Iris), Michael, Paddy (Pat), Bridget, Tony (David).

Brother-in-law to Susan and Mary.

Predeceased by Mary (Josie), Tommy, Phoncie, Jim and John. Murphy: Brother-in-law to Dick (Betty), Margaret and Nora.

Predeceased by Mary (Tom), Frances (Mike), Jerry and Stan. Uncle and Friend to many in Ireland, England, U.S. and Canada.

Arrangements entrusted with Paul O'Connor Funeral home. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Michael Garron Hospital that contributed to Hugh's quality of life these last few years; and to Dr. Kevin Workentin who was extraordinary in the care and compassion he provided.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or Michael Garron Hospital Foundation.

Hugh was a giant of a man; not in stature but in the life experience he gave us. He provided unparalleled strength, kindness and selfless love to his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. We were lucky to have him. He will never be forgotten.
