Hannah JohnHANNAH, John Edward   - April 23, 1922 - May 1, 2021

Edward John Hannah passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Sunnybrook Veteran Residences in Toronto, days after his 99th birthday.

Loved, admired and survived by his daughter, Lois (John), grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew), Simeon and Seth, and great-grandchildren Hugo, Diana and Estelle; son Ted (Ann) and grandchildren, Elise, David (Fran), Katie (Josh), Laura, and Michelle, great-grandchildren Sophia, Asher and Arlo; wife Marie, and reunited with his wife Grace, loving parents Percy and Lucy, his brother Fred and sister Edith.

For his friends and family, his humor and thoughtful kindness will not be forgotten. Ed was born on April 23, 1922 in Toronto, to Percy and Lucy Hannah.

He left high school at 16 and worked in the electrical and photo-engraving trades. During WWII he served country with pride as a wireless mechanic for the RAF between 1940 and 1945.

Returning to Toronto, he began a long career at IBM where he retired in 1987. In 1948, Ed married Grace Moore and later started their family.

Ed may be remembered best for his contribution to Bethany Lodge in Unionville (now Bethany Christian Living); his faith, passion, and burden for the elderly were pivotal in the founding of the home where he served as president from 1967 until 1995, and in other capacities while he was able.

A Funeral Service for immediate family will take place on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. The Service will be available via the video link on Jack's memorial page which can be found on kanejerrett-thornhill.ca.
